AK Design view architecture as a process which constitutes planning, designing and constructing buildings and other physical structures. It is about delivering solutions which meet the functional and business aspirations of our clients where occupants experience spaces and building services which enhance their daily lives. Over the years, AK Design have completed a broad spectrum of projects which include residential, commercial, hospitality and retail. Our motivation is centered on developing architecture that has identity and longevity through thoughtful use of narrative, scale, detail and material.
Our interior design division is a direct extension of our architectural practice and has executed award winning projects for some of the world's leading corporations. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, communicating with the stakeholders of a project and the management and execution of the design.
Working both independently and with the architects, the interior team consistently generate and deliver innovative design concepts. Over the past few years, our interior designers have worked across commercial, cultural, government, hospitality, residential and retail markets.
AK Design’s master planning team evaluates the complex issues affecting our towns, cities and neighborhoods. We undertake a process that determines urban goals and aspirations in terms of mass multi-purpose built districts. Master planning must be both visionary and practical in order to meet diverse commercial and community needs to achieve full development potential. To meet these objectives, we combine analysis of the policy, planning and physical issues with a practical understanding of financial cost and phasing implications.
Structural engineering is a field of technical expertise which deals with the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads. AK Design is currently building a team of structural engineers that have unique insight into all aspects of building structures and support systems. Our target is to build a depth of experience, which will allow us to focus quickly on appropriate building methods and construction techniques to realize the architectural and program goals of any project within schedule and on budget.
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing services is a significant component in all our projects both in terms of design and installation. Our MEP engineers provide pre-design, developed design and consulting services for these building systems to ensure adequate integration into the building fabric of the structures themselves.
Our in house BIM and Revit drawing software allows us key 3D views of complex building services systems so as to design efficient routings, detect and avoid potential collisions and provide parametric change management of the MEP design.
Project management from AK Design offers comprehensive pre-construction planning, enabling and main works supervision together with comprehensive inspections for every phase of the project through to the Defects Liability Period. Our project management and construction supervision team understand construction methodologies from the macro level to the micro level and guide your project to successful completion on time, to budget and in compliance with the relevant quality standards.
Movable furniture, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment constitutes important design considerations in both architectural and interior projects. The design of FF&E is critical to successful integration with the building form and finishes. Furnishings are what make building interiors practical for human use and comfort. As part of our FF&E specifications service, we consider contemporary lines that harmonize with our interior design philosophy, ergonomics, upholstery fabrics, wearability test performances, availability issues to suit program back up service and product warranties.
AK Design conducts feasibility studies for projects of any size and our approach begins with site evaluation and analysis to determine the suitability of the site for the project in question. Market feasibility studies typically involve testing geographic locations for a real estate development project and usually involve parcels of real estate land. Our feasibility studies aim to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of an existing real estate development plan or proposed architectural project venture, detect opportunities and threats which will ultimately determine the prospects for success in simple terms. The two essential criteria to judge feasibility are cost required and value to be attained.
Across all our various disciplines, we undertake peer reviews by qualified staff members to evaluate work done by third parties on behalf of our clients in order to assess impact on the latter’s project developments and, where appropriate, on our separately appointed inherited engagement / scope of works. Our peer review methods are employed to maintain standards of quality, improve performance and provide leadership to articulate and control design and project direction.
Workplace design can either support, reinforce and enhance organizational performance or be detrimental to its success. Our workplace consulting blends aspects of traditional space programming and design with analysis of work processes, human behavior, corporate culture and an organization’s performance with the ultimate goal of applying thoughtful design to achieve measurable bottom line business results.
Environmental sustainability involves making decisions and taking action that are in the interests of protecting the natural world, with particular emphasis on preserving the capability of the environment to support human life.
We at AK Design have an in built recognition of the green agenda and mindful of preserving limited material resources in the projects that we undertake. We take cognizance of the potential carbon footprint which certain developments may have and take corrective action to improve the sustainable performance of our work.
Our innovative landscape design approach combines nature, culture and architecture. We explore landscape planning in relation to garden design and the plants and vegetation within. Our design solutions are a combination of both hard and soft zones and are driven by climatic conditions, local plant availability and end user patterns.
Our design solutions are supported by good knowledge of landscape material specifications and construction practices combined with horticultural expertise and site analysis skills.
