One of AK Design’s key construction projects is entering the final phase of completion having commenced enabling works at the site in 2015. The Atria project is a twin tower development comprising one upmarket residential and one 5* serviced apartment buildings. The location is considered prime within the evolving Business Bay district and is within a short walking distance of the new Dubai Canal which offers residents and guests an extra dimension in experiencing the ever changing urban fabric of the city. The Atria development represents a key example of how a well considered design unfolds into a unique architectural entity and which is destined to become an understated landmark in its own right within the greater Business Bay area.
The planning footprint positions the two towers with angled precision to align them with the iconic Burj Khalifa in the middle distance so as to achieve a geometrical connection between the two developments. Additional physical massing dimension is achieved at the top sections of the towers by the stepping down hallmark from G+30 at the highest point to G+18 at the lowest level on both buildings. All apartments have projecting balconies with monolithic base slabs which add formal and contemporary visual rhythms to the various building facades. Stepping is replicated in the internal courtyard where landscaped gardens, pools and water features echo the roof lines of the towers so as to form an overall cohesive built environment.
