The design of Coast is a direct result of the desire to provide the best views for the majority of these apartments. From the analysis of the site and neighbouring plots, it was determined that a slim elongated block with a single loaded corridor to the southern end of the site segregates the apartments from the adjoining site while providing more satistactory views from the units.
The single loaded corridor also offers the opportunity of a naturally lit and ventilated circulation space. This in turn allows the south side circulation space to be excluded from the built-up area. Turning the apartments 45 degrees to the urban grid creates an interlocking tessellated apartment layout. This assures privacy for each apartment balcony and generates direct and high quality views from the apartments to the sea.
